UTILLIAN 420 - Vape Review
Updated: Jan 7
Although considered the “entry level” device from Utillian, the 420 has all the features you would expect from a higher end device. For those on a budget, you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how well the 420 works.
The familiar flask shape and textured surface make it easy to grip. The glass tube is removable for easy cleaning, and there’s a storage space in the bottom to protect the tube during transport. Also located on the bottom is a micro USB charging port.
Glass tube storage
The 420 houses a 1700 maH battery, which is certainly enough to provide a decent vape experience. However, drawing slowly on the glass tube provided the best results. The lower power just takes a little longer to get the goods out of the herb.
Simple & Intuitive
Using the 420 is super easy. Unscrew the mouthpiece and load it with about a third of a gram of ground material. Replace the top - if you’re a heavier user and plan to reload the unit while it’s hot, it’s a good idea to wrap the mouthpiece with the rubber cover.
Click the power button five times quickly to turn it on. The unit will show the battery percentage, then the chosen preset, then the current temperature as it heats up. Once it has reached the preset temperature, draw on the glass tube and inhale.
There are four temperature presets: 190, 200, 210, and 220 degrees celsius. Simply hold the button to cycle through them.
When you’re done vaping, click the power button 5 times quickly to turn the device off. The device will also automatically shut itself off after 10 minutes, as a safety precaution.
What Do You Get?
In addition to the 420 and its glass mouthpiece, there’s also a rubber cover for the mouthpiece when it gets hot - handy for heavier users. Warranty card - Utillian backs the 420 with a 1 year warranty. There’s also an instruction book, a USB Charging cable, a tool for cleaning and packing and 5 spare screens.
Incidentally, the screens can also be cleaned with some isopropyl alcohol, so there’s no need to constantly replace them when they get gummed up. Just remove the screen, drop it in a shot-glass with a bit of isopropyl alcohol, and the resin cleans off quite easily.
Is It Any Good?
Overall, the 420 is certainly entry level, as Utillian’s lowest-priced device, but it’s features and reliability, as well as the 1-year warranty, put it head and shoulders above your standard “entry-level” dry herb vaporizer. There are enough temperature choices to please most users, but we found that you have to use long slow draws to deliver the best vaping experience.
